Miss A Columnist

Lee Anna Culp is a journalist turned singer/song-writer in the Music-City area with a traveling addiction that stemmed from living in four different countries before the age of 8 when she landed in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. After writing for her college paper and doing free-lace work, she established her own website and blog giving her loyal readers laughs and insight into her life as a light hearted, 20-something aspiring singer/songwriter. In college she started intertwining her gift of music with her love of charities and developed relationships with groups like The American Cancer Society, United Cerebral Palsy, the Jimmie Hale Mission, First Light, beach preservation, missions for Haiti, and most recently has been working with orphans in Ukraine. Her devotion to work with charities began when she decided to write an article for her college paper focusing on the homeless downtown, interviewing the homeless themselves. She wrote a song inspired by the man featured in the article, and the piece sparked a relationship with local homeless shelters. Now-a-days she's often spotted playing music for her favorite causes or just showing support. She also dabbles in creating her own art and paintings and loves finding diamonds in the ruff at all the local thrift shops.

With so much great music coming and going from our music city, the acts picked out for this event are always a highly anticipated treat. And, let’s be honest, it would be easy to go broke in this town just going to all the shows we want to see! There’s someone great playing practically every venue every night.

But “Live on the Green” is completely free and stocked with the best Nashville food trucks and brewery options. The series has great backing sponsors, including local radio partners for the concert series Lightning 100 as well as some amazing charitable sponsors including the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee via their Givingmatters.com and Nowplaynashville.com initiatives, the Exchange Club Family Center, Second Harvest Food Bank, Walk Bike Nashville and still more to be added.

The highly anticipated line-up includes everyone from break-out bands like The Alabama Shakes to Grammy award winning artists like the Wallflowers and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John, as well as locally-loved acts like Moon Taxi, who have made playing ”Live on the Green” a yearly tradition. Their front-man, Trever Herbert, says each time is just as great as the last.

“What I love about Live on the Green is the shared sense of community. It’s great to live in a music city, but to actually participate in a free music event like this makes me proud to call Nashville home,” said Herbert. “This will be the third time Moon Taxi has played. Each show has been special. I’m particularly excited to be playing with Dr. John. His new album has been an integral part of my summer soundtrack.”

Moon Taxi and Jon Cleary will be kicking off the show before Dr. John takes the stage at the first night of “Live on the Green,” Thursday, September 6, 2012. The concert series will continue every Thursday night through October 11, 2012.
