With the temperature getting closer and closer to continuous days of 100 degrees, it means one thing. The 6th Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival is right around the corner.
On Saturday, August 4, the 6th Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival will be held at Fiesta Gardens. The festival includes lots of games, activities, contests and live entertainment, along with the star of the afternoon, ice cream. Open to all ages, the event is a wonderful way for Austinites from around the city to gather and celebrate one of the best summer desserts.
Some of the contests include a Popsicle Stick Sculpture Contest, Ice Cream Eating Contest and a Homemade Ice Cream Making Contest.
For the Popsicle Stick Sculpture Contest, participants can make a sculpture at home and bring it to the festival, or they can construct one at the event.
The Ice Cream Festival has benefited several organizations in Austin including Austin Children’s Shelter, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habibis Hutch and many more.
The festival’s focus is around family, fun and ice cream. It allows festival goers to travel back to a time when ice cream trucks roamed the streets, and “running though sprinklers was an art form.” Austin, get ready to scream for ice cream!
