Miss A Columnist

Alizey Khan, a British native who immigrated to the United States 7 years ago, first came to Charleston on vacation the summer before her senior year of high school. She instantly fell in love with the city's elegant, old-world charm, decided to move here after graduation, and is now a senior at the College of Charleston double-majoring in Studio Art and Arts Management. Her favorite things about Charleston are the Colonial architecture and the food carts.

Alizey is a visual artist focusing on paintings and prints depicting the beauty of outer space, working freelance through sales of original artwork through her website at Alizey Khan Space Art and her Etsy store at ArtByAlizey, where you can find custom painted space shoes, custom commissions on canvas and prints.

If you have a Charleston arts, charity or cultural event, restaurant or food cart, boutique, spa, or salon you would like covered on Miss A, please contact Alizey at alizey@alizeykhan.com.

The Charleston area is filled with creative spirits: artists, art lovers and artisans abound. Now we all have an outlet to learn, share and simply hang out in a creative space filled with possibilities! Workshops are BYOB and kid-friendly. Their summer DIY workshops are a perfect way to keep kids (and moms!) happy and busy over the summer. Learning to make things yourself instills a certain pride in the things you own that can’t be gained from simply buying a product; the object you created will always carry the happy memories of learning to make it, from the mistakes you learned to fix to the new friends you made in the process. Children will cherish the toys they spent hours perfecting far more than the ones someone bought them. And nothing compares to the feeling of being complimented on your new-found skills!
