New Orleans Hash House Harriers Present Red Dress Run 2012

Everyone in red dresses? Check. Beer and BBQ? Check. A delirious run through New Orleans’s Armstrong Park with 8,000 of your closest friends benefiting charity? Check.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, then don’t miss the New Orleans Hash Harriers (NOH3) annual Red Dress Run on August 11, 2012. The New Orleans Hash Harriers, a running club with a drinking problem, has regular runs every week in different parts of the city and are known for their love of fun, costumes, debauchery and, of course, beer. The four main goals of the NOH3 are (1) to promote physcial fitness among its members, (2) to get rid of weekend hangovers, (3) to acquire a good thirst and satisfy it in beer and (4) to persuade older members that they are not as old as they feel.

The Red Dress Run, typically about two miles, begins on the corner of  North Rampart Street and St. Ann Street (inside Armstrong Park).  Runners are met at the finish line with all the beer they can stand, courtesy of Crescent Crown, a delicious BBQ lunch provided by Corky’s BBQ and musical performances by Chasing Daylight and the Bucktown Allstars.

And there is no need to feel guilty about all the decadent fun you are having, as the majority of the proceeds from the day’s events will be donated to local charites. Last year’s NOH3 raised over $200,000 for over 60 local charites including The Special Olympics of New Orleans, Tipitina’s Foundation, Fauburg Mariigny Improvement Assoc. and more!

Tickets are available now! Click  here to purchase online. NOH3 will also hold an Expo at the New Orleans Fair Grounds on August 8-10, 2012 where online ticket purchasers can pick up their bib numbers and wristbands.
