Katherine Kennedy To Chair Prevent Cancer Foundation 5K FUNdraising Walk At Nationals Park In DC

The Prevent Cancer Foundation, founded in 1985, seeks to save lives through early detection and prevention of cancer.

Since its founding, the Foundation has provided more than $125 million to support research, community outreach, advocacy and education programs. On Sunday, September 30, they will hold the fourth annual Prevent Cancer Foundation 5K FUNdraising Walk at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. The event will raise money for the Foundation’s numerous programs.

The chairperson of the event, Katherine Kennedy, also chairs the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Young Professionals group and has recently been appointed to the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s board of directors. Last year she participated in the walk and her 62-participant team, KK’s Cancer Kickers, raised more than $9,400.

The FUNdraising Walk is open to people (and pets) of all ages and walking abilities. Food, entertainment and activities will be available during the event. There will also be door prizes, prizes for top fundraisers and everyone will receive T-shirts, goody-bags, snacks and drinks as part of their registration. For the top individual fundraiser grand prize, Foundation partner LifeSpan Fitness has donated their treadmill desk. The treadmill desk allows the user to work at the desk while exercising.
