J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy Cover Revealed

Big news is afoot: the cover and release information for J.K. Rowling’s highly anticipated book for adults has been revealed. Now, some might say that J.K. Rowling is already a writer for adults. After all, readers of the bestselling Harry Potter series include people of all ages, and many people waiting on line for the last book or movie were well over Harry’s age.

However, her newest book, The Casual Vacancy, was written with adults in mind. Here’s the plot, according to her website:

“When Barry Fairbrother dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

“Seemingly an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?”

Rowling’s new mystery clocks in at 581 pages, certainly not a surprise for readers of the Harry Potter series, and is scheduled to be released September 27, 2012.
