SightTrust Eye Institute celebrated the grand opening of their new facility with South Florida community members and charity organizations.
Dr. Cory M. Lessner and Dr. Andrew C. Shatz welcomed over 100 guests to the grand opening party for the SightTrust Eye Institute. Dr. Lessner is the official LASIK provider to all South Florida professional sports teams – the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, Florida Marlins and Miami Heat, as well as many VIP’s in business and entertainment.
The evening began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony facilitated by Sunrise Commissioner Donald Rosen. The Florida Panthers Ice Dancers greeted and posed for photos with guests as they arrived. Guests, including former NFL stars Nat Moore and Ki-Jana Carter, enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres catered by CA Catering.
Dr. Lessner and Dr. Shatz provided tours of the new facility. SightTrust Eye Institute is one of the first ophthalmic centers in the country to offer cataract surgery with the LenSx® laser. “Cataract surgery has never been performed with a laser – until now,” said Dr. Shatz.

According to Dr. Lessner, “In an effort to streamline and contain costs in the delivery of medical care, we have designed a fully accredited world-class office based surgical facility which will follow the same stringent health and safety rules as ambulatory surgery centers.”
Some of Dr. Lessner’s more well-known patients include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dwyane Wade, Joe Rose and Jimmy Johnson.
When he isn’t helping patients, Dr. Lessner spends time giving back to the community by staying involved with local non-profit organizations including Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Memorial Foundation, Alonzo Mourning Charities, Goldie’s Gang, Make-A-Wish, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, Lauren’s Kids, Jewish Family Service of Broward County, Dade Schools Athletic Foundation, Cartwheels to Character, Relay for Life and the Florida Panthers Foundation.
