Megan Wolford is the Charlotte Editor for Miss A. She graduated from NC A&T State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and worked in the mental health field catering to adolescents with behavioral disabilities. In addition to getting her B.A., she has also studied African American Studies at The University of NC at Greensboro. She is a spoken word poet whom is particularly interested in art, fashion, and entertainment; therefore Miss A is her taste of paradise. Her other hobbies include movie going, shopping, music festivals, blog reading, exploring new restaurants and anything else that equates to a great time and new experience! Family Fun For The Fourth Of July In Charlotte

The wonderful city of Charlotte is once again ready to celebrate another holiday in style. Independence Day is known for bringing family, friends, and colleagues together to honor the independence of our nation from Great Britain. This year Charlotte has an extensive list of events that will have you anticipating next years Fourth of July!

Carowinds Theme Park is a great choice for celebrating the Fourth of July at any age. Offering something for everyone, whether it be food, games, or rides, your entire party will be satisfied.  Beginning July 4 through August 12 on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays, Carowinds will present a “night of fire” with a beautiful fireworks display. The display will be shown in the sky above Carowinds. The display will also depend on permitting weather. Visit their website for summer hours of operation.

Presbyterian Hospital July 4th SpectacularMemorial Stadium, 310 N Kings Dr, Charlotte, NC, 28204

Enjoy family-friendly activities from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the Presbyterian Hospital of Charlotte. This event is alcohol-free and will feature grocery label reading activities, a wheel of health nutrition quiz boards, medical and foam art, face painting, teddy bear clinic, and health related games. Presbyterian Healthcare information & giveaways will be featured as well. The Community Care Cruiser and the Pediatric Ambulance will be on site. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes. This event is free. Dr. Getwell, their mascot will also be making a guest appearance! The Coca-Cola 4th of July Festival5000 Whitewater Center, Charlotte, NC, 28214

Photo Credit: usnwc.com. This event features two days of free live music and fireworks. The celebration takes place Tuesday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 4.

The Coca-Cola 4th of July Festival will begin on July 3rd and last through the 4th of July. Music will begin each afternoon at 4 p.m., the party will continue each night with a fireworks show. Fireworks will launch from Hawk Island and the show will display over the whitewater river. Some of the featured acts are Eric Lindell and These United States. Early arrival is recommended so you can enjoy the festival atmosphere and there will be free samples of Edy’s Slow Churned Ice Cream available all day. Fireworks will begin at nightfall; admission is free, however you may purchase VIP tickets here. Food and drinks are available with VIP Passes as you will also see the best view of the festival and access to a private bar.

For an enjoyable holiday please plan your family’s attendance at one of these fun filled events! In addition to these events if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, and Freedom Park are great places to pack a picnic and enjoy quality time with the people you love.
