Originally from Houston, Texas, Hope A. Thomas is a senior at Clark Atlanta University studying to receive a bachelor's degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Radio/TV/Film. Fun Family Festivities for the Fourth Of July In Atlanta

Independence Day. The Fourth of July. America’s Birthday. The day Americans dream of for celebration other than New Years Eve! July 4th is an awesome holiday to have fun in the sun and enjoy a nice day with family as well as friends. There are many activities to enjoy on this joyous day. From BBQ’s to roller coasters, here are some exciting and different ideas to try out this Independence Day in Atlanta!

Six Flags over Georgia

Six Flags is an action packed way to enjoy the holiday. With over 30 rides, the entertainment all over the park including performances, and food galore, Six Flags is a choice that the entire family will love. Until July 8th, the park is offering season passes for as low as 21.66 a month for 3 months. So even after the holiday has passed, your family can still enjoy the fun of summer whenever they want and invite friends along too!

The Children’s Museum of Atlanta

Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta will give children the chance to make their own American flags and decorate funglasses to wear at the firework show that night at Centennial Park. Take your children to the museum at the beginning of the day so you and the adults can celebrate later. There is no age limit plus all children under 2 are free and general admission for adults. Since the museum is located downtown, a stop at the World of Coke can be added to the day’s festivities as well!

Colony Square Peachtree Road Race

The 42nd annual Peachtree Road Race is coming to Colony Square and bleacher seating will be sponsored. According to Colony Square’s website there will be 5-tier seating installed along Peachtree Street between 15th & 14th St and it will be available on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. The seating is at Mile 5 and holds the best view of the race and where the fun starts! The will be live music, bounce house for kids, food vendors and of course, cheering the runners on!

Lake Lanier

Never forget the best holiday idea is always a fun vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the city. For a quick getaway about an hour away, Lake Lanier Islands has a waterpark, lodges, campgrounds, and not to mention a 38,000 acre lake to enjoy during the hot summer day.

The Fourth of July is always a day that will hold memories for years to come. With this list, the memories are very close by!
