The art deco elegance of the Howard Theater was the setting for the 4th Annual Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer on Tuesday, June 19. The cocktail and dessert bash, filled with local news luminaries, was held to benefit the George Washington University’s Mammovan, a mobile unit that helps provide free breast cancer screening to uninsured women.
Breast cancer survivor and NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell, was the key note speaker. According to Mitchell, “I was one of the lucky ones, my cancer was caught very early and I did not need radiation or chemotherapy. This mammovan is crucial to provide early detection for at-risk women who do not ordinarily get regular mammograms.”
