The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program hosted it’s 12th annual Wall Ball at newly opened wedding venue, Vie. It was a gorgeous night and a great crowd to honor Grammy Award winning and Philly natives, The Roots.
The hip hop group created The Roots Mural Project which is a new endeavor that includes an art education curriculum, Roots 101, rooted in engaging and empowering students to tell their stories through various media, including drawing, photography, music, sculpture, collage, and more.
After some words by Mayor Nutter everyone enjoyed cocktails and dinner stations hosted by Jose Garces featuring Chef Gregg Ciprioni, Garces Trading Company and Marc Vetri featuring Chef Damon Menapace, Alla Spina.
There were live and silent auctions, art making, a photo booth, and a live breakdance performance, and music by DJ Statik of the Illvibe Collective and DJ Brendan Bring’em.
Annual proceeds from the Wall Ball help the Mural Arts Program support its mission to continue to unite artists and communities together to create art rooted in the traditions of mural-making that transforms public spaces and individuals lives.
