Recap: Dole’s Shake It Up Tour Comes To Austin And Supports Local Boys & Girls Club

The Dole Shake It Up Tour came to Austin, Texas last Saturday and gave The Domain a little extra flair. The tour brought with it two tents, each with an offering of delicious fruit and free smoothies in which all could partake.

Included among these samples were frozen strawberry and blueberry fruit cups as well as pineapple juice-based strawberry, strawberry banana and mixed berry smoothies that were a hit with all Domain walkers of the day. At home, the smoothie can be mixed with milk, orange juice or even water and are therefore not perishable in their original form.

Dole’s mission is to encourage kids across the country to make healthy snacking decisions and also to incorporate fun exercise into their lives. In keeping with this goal, every hour local Zumba dancers Loean Antunez and Grazi Ferrarese rounded up the masses and led everyone in a work out. They started the dance with upbeat exercise music but then also brought in classics with a Zumba twist like The Cupid Shuffle. The routine was fun, easy to pick up and hilarious to watch. A few people jumped in to show what they were made of and burn off their calories for the day. Spectators had a chance to witness live entertainment while waiting in line for their smoothies.

In addition to being a good time, Dole’s tour is working to help Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. Each of their eight lucky cities receive donations for every smoothie or fruit cup handed out and last weekend was Austin’s turn. Still to go in their trek across America are the remaining two cities: San Francisco and Los Angeles.

If you did not get a chance to go out, you can like them on Facebook and one food donation will be made to each of the eight branches of The Boys & Girls Clubs. Dole has already pledged 66,000 donations, aid them in meeting their goal of 100,000 and make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

  • Hey I was one of the brand ambassador’s handing away samples to patrons and getting the word out about Dole’s healthy snack awareness. It was a great event and I had lots of fun watching the Zumba classes.
