Monday, June 4 marked the 50th anniversary of The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards. Guests mingled at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center to honor the year’s best designs and icons. Nominees included Marc Jacobs, Simon Spurr, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Pamela Love, Philip Lim and others–but the talk of the night was the Olsen twins.
Beating Marc Jacobs and Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Womenswear Designer of the Year, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen whole-heartedly thanked each other on the success of their luxury label The Row as they accepted the award. Billy Reid took home Menswear Designer of the year, and Reed Krakoff won Accessory Designer of the year.
Another highly buzzed about award was the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, which was granted to Tommy Hilfiger. The winners of the night were well deserving and each a truly unique talent that could only be found in the fashion world.
