Miss A Columnist

Amy Hill is the City Editor for Denver, and a newly converted Denverite, who graduated from The University of Kansas with a Bachelors degree in English. Amy currently works at a cutting edge Interior Design Firm, where she keeps her finger on the pulse of the latest fashion and style trends. In her free time you can find her doing one or more of the following: trying to master a new recipe, attending a live music venue, visiting a unique eatery, playing tennis, hiking, reading a book, wine tasting, or escaping in a movie. Obsessed with lattes and a lover of Tiramisu, she is avidly on the hunt for the best coffee and desert shops. Singing is a staple in her life, as she is forever involved in vocal groups and musical theater. Amy constantly has her eye on the upcoming crazes in the Mile High City and is always up for trying anything at least once. If you have a Denver charity or cultural event, restaurant, boutique, spa, or salon you would like covered on Miss A, please contact Amy at amy.hill@askmissa.com.

What is more fun than basking in the sunshine with great friends, good conversation, and a bottle of wine? In celebration of Wine Week, the Denver Performing Arts Complex is hosting the Colorado Urban Winefest Saturday June 9, 2012. This is the 2nd annual fundraiser for the Colorado Association for Viticulture and Enology (CAVE), a non-profit organization in which all funds go to the education, research, and equipment purchases to improve the grape growing and winemaking of Colorado wines. With purchase of a General Admission ticket, you will receive a commemorative wineglass and wine tote, plus unlimited wine and entertainment.

Sip, sample, and stroll among Sculpture Park with libations from 42 of Colorado’s finest wineries. This festival brings the vines of distant mountain wineries right to your fingertips, some of which include Snowy Peaks Winery of Estes Park, Creekside Cellars of Evergreen, and Maison La Belle Vie of Palisade. Savor the slow ripened grapes of the Rocky Mountain region, which according to local winemakers, has yeilded some of the most incredible harvests in recent years. Enjoy food and wine pairings, listen to live music, meet artisan winemakers, and give into the age-old sensation of stomping the grapes!
