Interview With Stylist Brad Goreski On Fashion And His New Book Born To Be Brad

Brad Goreski’s style is all his own. I love that he’s been under the skirts of some of the most powerful women in Hollywood and his story is like a modern day fairytale.

I love that through reading his new book I learned the real story about his departure from Rachel Zoe show, of his alcohol addiction and what it means to be Brad. Many times, reality TV doesn’t tell us the whole story; it is a world of half truths and what’s good for the ratings. Sometimes you have to just take your information straight to the source.

Goreski’s book is the perfect graduation present for anyone going into to fashion as it tells the story of of his struggle, defeat and trump. Not only is it an easy, inspirational read it also gives great fashion advice.

Goreski’s new book is a must read for the summer. Our journey starts at a crowded Brooks Brothers in the West Village in Dallas where chic Dallas ladies and gents sipped champagne as they awaited their moment with Mr. Goreski.

What brings you to Dallas?

Brad Goreski: “Barbecue.”

Really?

BG: “Yes and no. The lovely Courtney Kerr is taking me and my team out for some down home Texas food, but I also came to meet my fans and I LOVE Dallas.”

Why did you write the book?

BG: “I wanted to give my fans an insight into my up bringing. A lot people know me from the crying or because I left the Rachel Zoe show, but they don’t know much more. I was a gay kid who had a crazy childhood, always dreamed of fashion, and was very different from an early age.”

Has the road to success been easy?

BG: “It’s been very hard. You can feel like you made it but you have to keep reaching for that next level.”

Let’s talk about style. What three things should a women buy this season?

BG: “A floral pant, a colorful dress, and a bow tie of course. I’m a huge proponent of pop-of-color pumps-they’re an easy way to make a simple outfit wow worthy.”

Must you wear a collared shirt to wear a bow tie?

BG: “A bow tie will go with just about anything. For a women it’s like a statement necklace and it can really tie your whole outfit together.”

What’s next for you?

BG: I am waiting to hear about the next season of my show, and in the mean time I will continue to style my clients Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, and other clients. I am working with a few magazines and I helped design a line for Kate Spade.

You are styling Demi Moore? I saw in an episode of The Rachel Zoe Show that you only styled her once because Rachel wasn’t available?

BG: Possibly that was the case at the time, but I have been her stylist for awhile now.

Advice to anyone wanting to get into the fashion business?

BG: “Get an internship and work your butt off. Never take no for an answer and always do your best. It sounds cliche, but it really works.”

Would you ever come to Dallas to style a regular lady like me?

BG: “Of course, I love Dallas and all the ladies who live here. Call me anytime.”
