Miss A Columnist

Angela Babb Timmons is a San Diego-based writer who is passionate about all things food, drink, shopping and pampering in the vibrant city of San Diego. Although she is an urban girl by choice, on occasion she ventures out to the burbs and beachside communities to explore how the other half lives - she's decided they live mighty fine!
When she's not scouting out the hottest restaurants, spas and boutiques, she's toiling away on her screenplay in some hipster coffee shop wearing really cool sunglasses and pretending to be famous. Okay, scratch the famous part, but she really is working on a screenplay and she digs cool shades.

A proud supporter of the local arts scene and a frequent patron of live theatre, Angela is always on the lookout for unique cultural adventures that make her swoon. If you have a San Diego charity or cultural event, restaurant, boutique, spa, or salon you would like covered on Miss A, please contact Angela at sipnoshsandiego@gmail.com.

The Rose Wine Pub In San Diego

The Rose Wine Pub in South Park makes me swoon and feel all giddy!  If this cozy watering hole were a boy I would totally want to marry it and have little Rose Wine Pub babies. Okay, that’s weird, but you get my point — I have a killer crush on this place.  But crushes break your heart so it’s more like true love.

How can you not dig a wine bar that is confident and sexy enough to call itself a Pub – such mystery, such intrigue, such je ne sais quoi.  The Rose may serve craft beer, but this ain’t no husky boys pub. This place is refined and complex like a ’97 Cabernet you want to savor.  It’s like the smart guy with the hot bod who plays chess and acoustic guitar. It’s that kind of wine bar.

Perhaps I’m a little biased because my darling hubby just threw me an amazing birthday bash here (don’t tell him about my crush). Or maybe it’s the healthy pour of wine they serve that winks at you and says Hello Gorgeous when you gaze into the glass. Or perhaps it’s the reclaimed redwood they sourced to make the place feel so old yet sustainably new.  Or the fabulous pizzas and empanadas that taste so darn fancy they should be wearing little top hats and doing the can-can. Whatever it is, I’m hooked on this hideaway and can’t stop daydreaming about my next rendezvous.
