Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream with SPF 15 (Garnier) ($12.99 at Target) is a relatively new product in the beauty world. For the past few months there has been a lot of buzz about B.B. creams– but what are they exactly? B.B. stands for Blemish Balm or Blemish Base or Beauty Base. According to Garnier, the Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector B.B. Cream is a multi-benefit product that addresses skin concerns such as dryness, dullness and discoloration. Think of it as a hybrid of tinted moisturizer, foundation and regular moisturizer, all rolled up into one pretty package.

I was excited to try this B.B. cream just to see what the hype was all about. My skin is naturally dry, so it definitely needs as much moisture as it can get. I tried the Garnier B.B. cream in the shade Light/Medium, and it matched pretty well with my fair complexion. I was slightly worried it might be too dark, but the shade matched up well with my own skin tone.

While the B.B. cream was moisturizing, it made me feel slightly greasy and shiny. I applied it after washing my face, without any primer. I had to use a bit of my MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation ($27.00 at MAC) to tone down the shine on my cheeks and nose.

If you’re looking for a product with a soft, dewy finish, then the Garnier B.B. cream would work wonderfully for you. However, I tend to like a more matte look with my facial products, which I can’t seem to achieve with this product. It’s very moisturizing, nicely fragranced and evens out my skin tone nicely, I just wish it gave more of a matte finish.
