The kids of Charlotte’s Marsh Road Boys & Girls Club are in for a treat on Thursday, May 24, because the DOLE Shake It Up tour is stopping by to provide yummy snacks and facilitate further donations. Charlotte is one of the special stops on Dole’s summer tour. The tour, which began in New York City earlier this month, will also be rolling into Boston, Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco–with special stops in Baltimore and Charlotte.

Dole is using the tour both as a way to spread the word about their great frozen fruit snacks, Fruit Smoothie Shakers and Frozen Fruit Single-serve Cups, but as an opportunity to help hungry kids reach for something healthy this summer. Wouldn’t you rather have something good and good for you? I know I would!
Dole will be making sure that this is a possibility for the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs that it visits by donating one item for each one of the samples it can hand out. Dole would like to donate over 100 thousand items to the various clubs. Each of the stops also will be an event in its own right, with an appearance by Dole’s mascot Bobby Banana and time for the kids to dance and have fun.

Even if you can’t make it out yourself, Dole has made it pretty easy for you to help them collect donations online. If you visit the Dole Facebook page you can donate items to each one of the Boys & Girls Club along their route (up to eight total) by “liking” their page and telling your friends.
Nothing goes better with summer sunshine than refreshing fruit, don’t you think?
