Miss A Columnist

Shawna Nadelman is a Gemini vegetarian who enjoys long walks on the beach and curling up on the couch to take in the latest episode of, well anything on Bravo. The staff at Trader Joe’s (the Encinitas location) know her by name. She can spout off almost any celebrity’s dating history, refer to Friends episodes in daily conversation and would give anything to marry a man like Coach Eric Taylor (of Friday Night Lights). She’s never met a ruffle, oversized flower or horizontal stripe that she didn't love and though her entire wardrobe hails from J.Crew and Anthropologie, she'll never buy an item at full price (momma loves a good sale!). Sure, some may argue she's the whitest gal they know, but (surprise!) she's fluent in Spanish and left a part of her heart in Madrid, Spain after a summer abroad in college. Her family is her everything and she certainly does not deserve her friends. Left to her own devices, she could probably finish off a jar of peanut/almond butter in one sitting. She also loves to write. A lot. If you have a fashion designer, brand, store or website you would like covered on Miss A, please contact Shawna at shawnalnadelman@gmail.com.

Prospect Bar & Grill In La Jolla

Two things occurred this past weekend: One, I wore shorts, and two, I got sun burnt. And while the second was rather unfortunate (don’t tell my dermatologist) and made me a dead ringer for a lobster for a day or two, I still had a smile on my face come Monday morning. Why? Because the weekend’s happenings were hard proof that my beloved San Diego summer is well on its way. And with the warmer temperatures and longer days at your disposal, I can’t think of a better way to spend them than on the outside patio of Prospect Bar & Grill in the heart of the Village in La Jolla.

Whether you’re looking for a place to meet that cutie you exchanged numbers with on your last visit to the beach or simply a place to unwind with girlfriends after a long day at the office, Prospect Bar & Grill provides the perfect laid back atmosphere for a refreshing libation and an accompanying appetizer no matter the occasion.

On a warm evening, take to the restaurant’s outdoor patio as you admire the pristine views of the La Jolla Cove while sipping one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails or nibbling on one of the delicious menu items like their fresh Baja Ceviche or their dangerously spicy Waiver Wings (all items discounted during nightly Happy Hour)!

Speaking of spice, if you’re looking to add a little zest to your life while also working on getting that body into bikini-ready shape, grab a dance partner and come out for Salsa Mondays where salsa lessons are free before 9 p.m. For live music, return Thursday through Sunday as rotating musicians entertain guests nightly with their live croons. Finally, if a slower pace is more your style, join the crew of Prospect Bar & Grill for a lazy Sunday brunch and nurse your $5 mimosa or $6 Bloody Mary as you ward off Monday for a few more hours.
