What’s a girl to do without her mom?! Moms are undeniably a girl’s go-to advice giver, rant listener, tell-it-like-it-is stylist and all around best support system. As an emotional middle schooler I wanted nothing to do with my mom and I thought she was the epitome of uncool and unfair. After living a bit more of life, growing up and going through real situations–some of which were really tough–I can now say that I can’t live without my mom and I’m not quite sure what I’d do without her unfailing support (she loved me even when I thought she was weird, being grounded felt like the worst thing ever and Skechers slip-on shoes were cool).
In honor of my mom and all mom’s out there, I’ve collected a few of my favorite and unique Mother’s Day gifts. I believe that moms should be honored throughout the year — and not just on one single holiday — and as such these gifts work year-round any time you want to say “Hey Mom– Thank you. For being you. For being there for me. And for proving that mom’s always know best.”
Perfect for moms on-the-go. You can personalize this unique and ultra trendy luggage/purse/bag tag with a message, font, colors and even design.

3) DIY: Custom Photo Jars (via EveryDayCelebrating)
Decorating mamas will love this simple, DIY project that showcases their favorite photos. Simply print out your (or her) favorite photos in black and white copies and place them in glass jars and vases. Find fun, unique sizes at your local thrift store or use what you likely have around the house. Group different sized jars together and voila! You have your own photo gallery for Mom.
Price varies depending on supplies. Print out photos on your home computer to save money. Find cheap glass jars and vases at your local Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or Walmart store. Thrift stores are also great places to look.
4) Statement Necklaces
Today’s fashionista knows that bright, bold statement necklaces are an “in” this season. Dress mom up with some of these favorites fit for any budget. One of our fave mamas, Kate Hudson, is this season’s Ann Taylor spokeswoman and she personally chose the company’s Electric Garden Necklace ($148) as an item from this spring’s collection that she couldn’t live without. Stella & Dot’s gold and coral beaded Palamino Necklace features trendy coral and tons of layering beads mom is sure to love ($138).
Price will definitely vary. For more budget-savvy choices check out statement necklace selections at Charming Charlie (Their Geo Casted Stone necklace is less than $24) and other go-to accessory shops such as Forever 21 and Francesca’s.
These print-it-yourself portraits are frame-worthy and artsy. Choose from a variety of silhouette styles, email a photo or two of the subject you want to profile (i.e. you and your siblings, your family, mom, etc.) and receive a proof within 24 hours of your print! This is a great last-minute gift idea as all prints come straight to you in high-res PDF format and you print the portrait yourself. For higher quality, go to your local printshop and have them print it. Or, print yourself and frame for a quick gift Mom is sure to love.
Price is around $60. Visit the Happy Thought Etsy store to place your order.
