Radiant Cosmetics Hosts Beauty For A Purpose At Austin’s Plain Ivey Jane To Fight Human Trafficking

It’s incredibly surprising to me that human trafficking even exists in our world today, but it certainly does.  To make sure we are all on the same page, human trafficking is “The illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of reproductive slavery, commercial sexual exploitation, forced labor or a modern-day form of slavery.”

Human trafficking is a bigger industry than you could ever imagine and it’s maintaining its strength and power.  This unimaginable industry was what sparked activist, Nicole Marett, to create a make-up line that not only provides make-up and tools to help ladies feel even more beautiful, but part of the proceeds go to raise awareness for human trafficking.

Nicole has always had a passion for make-up and ever since she was a young girl she wanted to be a beauty editor at a fashion magazine.  So like many driven people, Nicole followed this passion, moved to New York and worked for a fashion house on 5th Avenue!

But something was missing for Nicole and she left New York, graduated college and felt a calling to join an organization called The World Race where she found herself overseas in Thailand befriending a prostitute that walked Bangla Road, home to over 200 bars and hundreds of women trafficked to the area or trapped in the commercial sex industry to provide for their families.  Many of these women have no choice or are brainwashed to believe they have to do this in order to care for their families.  At this point in time, Nicole says she “was filled with an overwhelming sense that something had to be done and [she] was going to do it!”

Nicole explains that a vision began to form and she wanted to run a make-up company that partners with organizations that combat human trafficking, as well as getting people involved in their own communities physically.  Nicole reminds us that human trafficking happens in “our own backyards,” right here in the United States.

Nicole followed through on her dreams and goals and created Radiant Cosmetics!  With the purchase of the high quality and wide array of cosmetics that Radiant Cosmetics offers, you are enabling Nicole and her team to use their time and efforts to put an end to human trafficking and raise awareness of this surprisingly common industry that many people do not know even exists.

Join Nicole this Thursday April 26, 2012 at Plain Ivey Jane for a night of “Beauty for a Purpose” with complimentary mini makeovers, music by DJ Mr. Burnz, wine and cupcakes.  Plain Ivey Jane, owned by Sara Reeves, is a unique boutique offering over 30 high fashion and popular brands, but for prices that every girl can afford.  Plain Ivey Jane also carried accessories from local and undiscovered artists!

If you love fashion, makeup, music and fun, be sure to stop by and enjoy this night of beauty while truly impacting the effect of this industry on innocent souls around the globe and help Nicole fight this war against human trafficking.
