The HOPE (Help Optimism Perseverance Encouragement) 10th annual Art Auction, Creating Hope will take place on Thursday, May 10, 2012. HOPE focuses on supporting treatment for women living with HIV/AIDS and to prevent transmission to newborns. HOPE provides support for the Women’s HIV Program of the Infectious Disease Center of Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Some items that will be auctioned at this event are signature painted ostrich eggs, photographs, paintings, and sculptures. HOPE also donates “Baskets of HOPE” to new mothers after delivery. The baskets include baby essentials, onesies, t-shirts, lotion, baby powder, and diapers.
HOPE was founded in 1999 to prove the Women’s HIV Program. They also have a full time social worker and a layette program for new mothers. Nancy Gaynor, and Patricia Garcia, Director of the Women’s and Perinatal HIV clinic of Northwestern Memorial Hospital are the founders of HOPE.
