Miss A Columnist

Lisa Fargnoli is a yoga teacher and holistic counselor. She grew up in Westchester, New York and has lived in New York City, Washington D.C. and now resides back in New York with her husband, Peter, 5 year old son, Sage, and their dog, Lilybean. At twenty -six she began studying Zen Buddhism which eventually led her to leave her job as a special effects producer and return to school to study yoga and holistic living. There, she not only studied asanas or postures but metaphysics, sanskrit, philosophy, anatomy and so much more. "What I love about yoga is that it's over six thousand years old, with so much history, so there's always something to learn". She has been an Adjunct Professor of Yoga at Manhattanville University and done fundraising for Food and Friends and The Animal Welfare League. In her free time she enjoys doing yoga with her son who caught the "yogabug" while he was in her belly, sports, gardening for all the deer that seem to be eating it and taking advantage of the Hudson Valley Region.

New Synergy Salon Hosts Cutts For Mutts To Benefit Local Animal Shelter

One of my favorite salons, New Synergy, is located in a quaint Victorian-style building with a homey feel and a friendly staff. My stylist, co-owner Peggy Marzell, is known as “The Blonde Expert” throughout Bergen and Westchester County, but she also specializes in rich gingers, chocolate tones and highlights.  She is great at doing extensions, haircuts and up-dos as well.

Peggy is also an avid equestrian and animal-lover. She just opened this salon a short time ago and, because she is always altruistic at heart, New Synergy holds charity event every month.  This month’s charity event, Cutts for Mutts, is on April 22. Not only will there be adorable pups there to adopt, Peggy is cutting both women and men’s hair at a great price, and adding fun colored hair and feather extensions.

La Bella Salon Fx and Person Style will also be helping out. There will be delicious food catered by Theodores and Perronucci’s and lots of fun items for raffle, with all proceeds going to the Hi Tor Shelter.  Prizes include, a Glamour Girl Jewelry Accessory Basket, Yankee baseball and theater tickets, three massages with DeCarlos Chiropractor, three Beach Bum Tanning sessions, dog grooming by Dirty Dawg, make-up by Maxine, six make-up sessions with Debbie, Firefox Jewelry, fifty percent off Bithari Kennels, four haircuts and blow dries, Muddi Paws Photo Session. The first dog adopted will get a free training session with Doghill Mike.

The mission of Hi-Tor Animal Care Center is to provide temporary care and shelter to lost, abandoned, and unwanted companion animals. They try to help both youth and adults realize and actively promote kindness to all living beings. To this end Hi-Tor cares for domestic animals and provides a viable humane education program; both on- and off-premises volunteers work hard to make this a better world for both animals and people.

Come by and see if you can resist giving one of these loving animals a home. Or at the very least, you’ll leave looking and feeling great!
