It’s time to pony up and show your support for Special Olympics Texas! Join the non-profit organization for its inaugural Polo tournament on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Austin Polo Club. Pony Up will be a traditional Polo match—big hats and all—that will bring a little glamour to raising awareness and money for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The “horsing around” begins at 11 a.m. Delight in light bites from Austin favorites, mingle with polo players and Special Olympics Texas equestrian athletes and listen to the sounds of local artists. An equestrian exhibition, featuring a local team of equestrian athletes riding to a medley of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits, is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., followed by local entertainment and a performance by Austin favorite, Jack Ingram. Organizers will announce winners of the hat contest, raffle and silent auction at 4 p.m.
General admission tickets are $50 each, and VIP tickets are $100 each. VIP admission includes access to the VIP tent, swag bags for the first 50 registrants, preferred parking and covered seating alongside celebrity judges for the hat competition and Jack Ingram performance.
All proceeds will benefit the more than 4,500 Special Olympic Texas athletes in the Central Texas area. Special Olympics Texas is a privately funded non-profit organization that changes lives through the power of sport by encouraging and empowering people with intellectual disabilities, promoting acceptance for all, and fostering communities of understanding and respect. It provides continuing opportunities for more than 40,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the Lone Star State to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship.
