Recap: The Baltimore Citypaper’s Cosmic Cocktail Party

The 15th annual Cosmic Cocktail hosted by Baltimore City paper took place on March 8th 2012 at the American Visionary Art Museum. It is a major event in Baltimore that many Baltimore residents and businesses look forward to. With more than 35 local restaurants showcasing their food and drinks, it is a great way to discover new restaurants.

Luckily it was the perfect evening night with a nice breeze roaming the city, and waiting on the 2 blocks long line was not irritating, and it moved fast . I knew the party is a major event but I still surprised by the number of people who attended. I was probably surprised because it was my first time attending, and it would not be my last time.  The party is from 7pm until 10pm, so it is best to show up early to beat the long line. Once we made through the line, ID and ticket checks, a colorful vibrant atmosphere welcomed us. Both the first floor and third floor were filled with people dressed in all sort of ways. Most of them donned their best cocktail dresses and heels, suits and ties, while other opted for more casual attires such as a nice pair of jeans and boots. At the end it was comfortable for everyone, if you came in dressed casual, you would not have felt bad and vice versa. A handful of people were spotted dressed up in costumes with full on make-up. They made for great photos at the photo corner, which were then played on the large projector on the third floor. While the guests on the third floor were dancing to old school music, the first floor was playing more of a house, techno style of music.

The food stations offered something for everyone. There was even popcorn, with a surprisingly long line. Some food stations had long lines, others didn’t but overall they moved fast, and some items were worth the wait. Some food stations also served pre-made drinks around the floors that were easily accessible; but to order a specialty drink at the bar areas was more difficult and took longer time due to the line; but you had options.

Open bar, great food, good drinks, good music, is a great way to unwind after a day at work, while mingling and meeting people.
