Miami artist, Sigal Sasson is the designing force behind the company RUG-ART. Recently Sigal’s artwork was exhibited at the Schacknow Museum of Fine Arts in Florida.
Sigal knows that being fortunate enough to be able to express herself through art is a gift worth sharing, and since growing up in a large family encourages sharing, she continues to do so by volunteering as an art teacher at a local public school in her Weston, Florida neighborhood.
“Being from a large family I am used to sharing and I like to do share, celebrate and nurture young minds that seem to need and crave art so much. The more I do it the better I feel and I realized that providing kids with creative self-expressions is a beautiful way to help them become better, happier humans. To see their eyes wide open, the warm smiles on their faces looking at me anticipating what’s next and their fingers itching to get ‘artistic’ – that’s what I’m there for,” said Sigal.
She was born the youngest of eleven children to a large and creative family with strong Moroccan roots.
Of her upbringing Sigal states that; “My parents had a tendency to somewhat spoil and over protect me, but I feel that it allowed me to dream freely and experiment artistically thus fueling my creativity.”
This creativity is something that she communicates through her designs for RUG-ART, her passion for cooking or as she says, “designing edible art”, interior design work, scientific illustrations of botanicals and oil paintings of still life.
In addition to teaching art, Sigal also volunteers at another school where she helps teachers check student’s homework on a weekly basis and award students prizes based on their results. On her own Sigal also gives the students prizes based on their efforts and willingness to reach their goal.”
