Interview With Los Angeles Interior Designer Ariel Fox

I had the opportunity to meet with Los Angeles based Interior Designer Ariel Fox from Ariel Fox Design, and I was really impressed by her beautiful presence that now I can see transmits directly into her magnificent designs. Ariel Fox has appeared both as a ghost designer and as a co-host on HGTV’s “Room Crashers”. She also guest starred on USA’s “Character Fantasy” as an interior design expert for a room makeover.

She has been featured in such magazines as Riviera, RUE, Dabble and Beverly Hills Life & Style. She is well known for her Mia Shoe Cabinet Design ($18,500) where a portion of the benefits went to Camp Kesem, to continue providing free overnight camp programs for children and families affected by cancer.

Since their opening in 2008, Ariel Fox Designs has grown into a full service design studio that focuses on bringing hospitality driven design to property developers, management and residential markets. Ariel can transform any room into your specific desire and make it a dream come true!

Having Ariel right next to me, I took the opportunity to ask her a couple of questions:

Ariel what inspires you to create such breath taking settings?

Travel is my top inspirational tool. Nothing compares to how you experience design in different parts of the world. I also enjoy going to Art Center Grad Shows (my alma mater) I get to see what’s fresh and “now” in design and art.

I know you are big on Charity, why is it so important to you?

Charity is important to me because I feel you can’t keep what you don’t give away. I’ve been blessed to have a talent that can affect how people experience space around them. It’s not brain surgery but design sure does affect your mood. I’m always trying in small and sometimes big ways to spread the consciousness of design.

What tips can tips can you offer others about designing a room?

DON’T let perfectionism prevent you from moving forward, sometimes a happy mistake can take you in a delicious direction.

DON’T forget the dimmer! Every light source should have the capability to go from bright to sexy in an instant.

DO your research, use pinterest or buy magazines and pull images that inspire you. Take these images with you when you shop and a sales associate would be more than happy to help you bring your inspirational image to life.

DO measure! Whip out that measuring tape and get the dimensions of your room. Nothing is worse than buying a sofa that doesn’t fit!

As a proud Angelino, what are your favorite spots in LA?

Best overall dining at Wood and Vine, Best date: Cliff’s Edge, Best Best industry shopping La Brea Blvd (Melrose to Wilshire) & Melrose Avenue (Gower to La Cienega)
