Kenniece Johnson is Co-Editor for Miss A in New Orleans. She is a Louisiana native currently living in New Orleans, LA. Raised in a small town in south Louisiana, she moved to New Orleans to attend Dillard University. While there, Kenniece cultivated a deep love for English composition and literature and became a charter member of her school’s Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. Kenniece received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dillard and has lived in NOLA every since. Oscar Night America to Benefit the American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter

Oscar Night®  is quite possibly the most glamorous night in Hollywood. The Tinseltown elite gather at the Kodak Theatre to celebrate the best of the year in cinema complete with designer duds, a paparazzi filled red carpet and the never ending question…”Who are you wearing?”  Each year we gather in front of the television to catch a glimpse of our favorite stars and to see if our picks go home with the famed “Oscar.”

How about this year you watch the 84th Academy Awards® in style instead of your fuzzy slippers while also supporting a phenomenal cause? The Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross  and ABC tv affiliate ABC26 WGNO invite you to  Oscar Night® America party to be held at The Theatres at Canal Place on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012.

In one of only 50 parties actually sanctioned by the Academy, this event offers the attendees the opportunity to watch the Academy Awards® in a

plush theatre seating will enjoying fabulous food, great drinks and enough fun and entertainment to make even Brad and Angelina jealous

A patron party at Morton’s Steakhouse sets the stage for the night with cocktails, hors d’oeurves and music by Becky Allen and Marshall Harris. Next, get real star treatment as you by walk the red carpet and have your photo taken by the “paparazzi.” Dine on delicious food by Chef Adolfo Garcia of Gusto Cafe. There will also be multiple bars featuring movie themed cocktails. Bid on a host of amazing items during the silent auction and compete in the “Predict the Winners” competition for you chance to win prizes. View the award show in a setting like no other!

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross. According to its website, this chapter “serves more than 1.2 million people throughout Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John, Assumption, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes.” They provide life saving assistance to  the community  by helping to “prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters and other life-threatening emergencies.” Definitely a worth cause!

  • General Admission (includes food, drinks, red carpet entrance, award show viewing and official program): $100 or $175 per couple
  • Patron Party (general admission plus patron party): $125 or $225 per couple
