This season, Yuna Yang presented a collection called A Room of One’s Own against the beautiful backdrop of J. Estina at The Shops at The Plaza. Yuna was inspired by the fairytale fantasies of childhood that linger into our adult years. Yuna belives that the “princess fantasy” never really leaves us and is woven into a woman’s sophisticated adult style. As usual, Yuna displays her talent for creating elegant and feminine dresses with clean lines and simple shapes. Bold colors, delicate beading, and luxurious fabrics enchant us as models coquettishly accessorize with tiaras and lace masks.

Ironically, before I what Yuna’s inspiration for the collection was, the late Duchess of Windsor came to mind as I saw the shapes and silhouettes. Wallis Simpson, an intriguing figure who was known and admired for her style, would probably instantly relate to the concept of the collection. And I think, she would have loved the clothes. A movie about her life, directed by Madonna, is currently in select theaters.
