New Orleans native Thais Kay Cuffy sticks to one simple rule: Live life like its golden. On a quest for all things unique, inspiring and beautiful, Thais explores her current city of Atlanta in search of delicious food, interesting art, happening music, boutique shopping, and eclectic neighborhoods. A graduate of Oglethorpe University with degrees in Communications and French, Thais is Director of Marketing for a real estate sales and marketing firm, and has been freelance writing for eight years. With a special interest in language and culture, Thais travels as far and as frequently as her pocketbook allows. Recent adventures have led her to Thailand, South Korea and Spain. In her spare time, Thais reads voraciously, takes a variety of dance classes, and espouses the benefits of drinking tea. Fashion Uncorked Design Competition To Benefit Easter Seals Of North Georgia

It’s back! Fashion Uncorked, Atlanta’s Project Runway-style design competition has returned for a second year to benefit Easter Seals of North Georgia. This year promises to be bigger and bolder as ten up-and-coming designers battle it out on the runway on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.

Each designer is tasked with creating four looks inspired by the brilliant colors and styling of the T. Howard Jewelry Collection. The Top 10 finalists chosen to show their designs at this year’s event include: Lakedra “Raquel” Reed, Weying Yang, Trish Malone, Ashley Winchester, Sidratu Maju, Jasmine Jones, Anna Hobbs, Annie Flynn, Natasha Furman and Adonis Austin. All designers are competing for the chance to receive:

  • Featured participation in LA Fashion Week Fall 2012
  • An interview and feature during The 19th Hole Magazine Fashion Live @ LOEWS Atlanta Hotel on February 16, 2012
  • A chance to assist with styling The 19th Hole Magazine’s Annual “Girls by Day, Ladies Night Out 19th Fashion Fairway Runway Show” on June 23, 2012
  • A chance to assist in a feature issue of The 19th Hole Magazine with styling the print and/or online issues.
  • A trip to Los Angeles to be featured in SHEEN Magazine

This year’s competition will be judged by a who’s who of the fashion and design world: Jessica Black (Miss United States 2010), Courtney Hammonds (Art Institute-Atlanta), Raphael Cox (Project Runway), JaVaun Gorman (Art Institute), Marcus Jackson (Caliber Enterprises), Dr. Melissa Manuel (Art Institute), Holly Firfer (Atlanta and Company), and Renee Knorr (19th Hole Magazine). Celebrity hosts for the evening are WSB-TV news anchor Monica Pearson and Cotrice Addisonof BRAVO TV’s Project Accessory.

Barefoot Wine & Bubbly will provide a sampling of fine wines, and Chef Jay‘s Band will delight guests with decadent foods. Lou Battle, Winston Warrior and Allison Criswell will provide musical entertainment, and proceeds from a silent auction will benefit Easter Seals of North Georgia, a non-profit organization that assists children and adults with disabilities.
