Usually dogs can go just about everywhere. From hotels to shopping malls, your four legged friend can accompany you almost anywhere—except an art gallery. For one night only, you can leave your dog at home and come to the intersection of dogs and art. Lowe Gallery presents the A Celebration of Dogs: Dogs in Show and Field: A Fine Art Sale, an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and of course art. Not just any type of art though, man’s (or woman’s) best friend, dogs.
It’s not often that an art gallery would feature animals, let alone dogs and all for a great purpose. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the Atlanta Humane Society. This organization offers pet adoptions along with many other animal-centered services in the Atlanta area. These services include: mobile spay/neutering, foster care and grief counseling.
Special guests of the event include Alan Fausel, a scholar, curator and appraiser, who will be discussing the pieces and upcoming auction artwork as well. Also famous authoer William Secord, will present the history of dogs in art and our lives.
