Saul Williams is a true artist. He’s an actor who appeared in critically acclaimed films such as “Lackawanna Blues”. He’s a world-renowned poet who popularized the art of spoken-word poetry. He’s also a prolific musician who’s been releasing albums for a decade since his rocking first single, “List of Demands”. Williams is bringing his thought-provoking music to the Bottom Lounge this spring to promote his latest album, “Volcanic Sunlight”.
Williams’ music is provocative, but still soothing to the ears. His mix of electronic music, hip-hop, rock , and spoken word makes his music unique and intriguing. He has worked with artists as diverse as electronic rock legend Trent Reznor and rising R& B star Janelle Monae. His latest album continues in the genre-mixing tradition of his earlier albums. “Dance” has an ’80′s New Wave sound, while “Explain My Heart” has a “TV on the Radio”-like rock sound with poetry mixed into the song.
Williams will perform in the hip, intimate Bottom Lounge in the West Loop. The lounge has capacity for 700 and has other rooms for other events. The Volcano Room Rum Bar and Patio Deck host parties. You can also eat American cuisine in the restaurant on date night evenings. Concertgoers can also watch the Blackhawks play in high definition on game nights. The Bottom Lounge has hosted many underground and local artists as well. Saul Williams is one of the most entertaining artists out now. Catch him when he comes to town this spring.
