Miss A Columnist

Originally from Connecticut, Brigid Darragh has called Baltimore home for nearly a decade. She decided to head 300 miles south of her small hometown to study English at Loyola University Maryland... and never left! For the last five years, Brigid has worked at several publishing companies in the city and as a freelance writer and photographer for as long. She has had the great opportunity to get acquainted with Baltimore's unique neighborhoods, quirky boutiques and eateries, passionate small business owners, and community members who are movin' and shakin' in the area with service projects and charity organizations. Brigid hopes to share Baltimore's many offerings with anyone who has an interest in lending their talents for a good cause, a love for good food and drink, or who's just lookin' for a night out pickin' crabs and enjoying live music in one of Charm City's eclectic bars.

Fells Point Welcomes Hanger Alley Boutique

A few blocks from the bustling Broadway Market in Fells Point, the neighborhood’s newest boutique lures in anyone with a flair for fashion with a chalkboard boasting sales on tights and scarves. Better yet, on Friday evenings from 5 to 8, customers can enjoy a 10% discount on everything in the store and a treat – champagne and cupcakes!

Hanger Alley opened its doors in early November on Fleet Street between Washington and Castle Streets, and it has been getting rave reviews ever since.

Originally an online boutique, this is the first brick-and-mortar venture by owner Nichole Daley. Daley started her business in 2010 after years of growing her own wardrobe and collection from many years spent living in and scouring the fashion niches of Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C. Her personality and flair for fun, creative fashion radiates throughout her charming shop.

Hanger Alley specializes in unique women’s clothing and accessories, including jewelry, shoes, hosiery, and handbags. Pieces range in fabrics and sizes, and plus sizes are also available. The store also carries a full line of bath and body products: soaps, perfumes, lip balms, bath products, and candles are all by Tokyo Milk.

Having lived on both the East and West Coasts, Daley’s keen eye for fashion is diverse. She stocks a broad range of American labels, including Ya Los Angeles, Kensie, and Bootights. Daley seeks to outfit the young working girl and the weekender with colorful, vintage-inspired pieces that are fit for day-to-night looks – and accessories to boot!

Trust me when I say you could leave the store with an entire outfit without breaking the bank. Prices are reasonable (from party dresses to pea coats, the most expensive item I’ve seen in the handful of times I’ve visited the store is less than $70).

Followers of the Hanger Alley blog can get discount codes for online orders, and the boutique offers a 5% discount off your first order.

Hanger Alley will feature seasonal pieces, so as soon as the weather warms, you can expect bright, colorful sundresses and skirts, blouses and jackets for spring!
