SMU’s neighbor, the hospitable Hotel Lumen, is getting a makeover. This wonderful, swanky hotel is located directly across from the campus for all to enjoy. This hotel has been in Dallas for five years and much to our advantage, is getting upgraded!
The renovation will include three more stories that will include additional rooms, a new lobby, a rooftop area along with a beautiful courtyard area, and a swimming pool with a sundeck. The designer for this redesign is none other than, the BOKA Powell Architect firm (you may also know them from the W Austin hotel, Omni in Dallas and the Joule hotel projects). The hotel will eventually introduce a new restaurant to dine in as well.
Hotel Lumen, a Kimpton hotel, is proud to be a part of an Eco-Friendly Earth Care program as well. They promote the use of ceramic coffee cups as opposed to paper, organic food and beverage options, guest room recycling canisters, and efficient lighting sources just to name a few. I don’t know about you, but I feel like little additions like that can make such a huge difference in being “green.”
The renovation will be completed in two phases. The first phase was completed by the end of 2011. The second phase will be finished by April of 2012. You certainly do not need to be an SMU student to take a part of all this hotel has to offer. So, go enjoy your stay!
