The Scarlet Letter And The Firebird At The Maryland Hall For The Creative Arts

February is sizzling with unique events in 2012. There are many events to choose from, but I think we here at Miss A have found the perfect night out in Annapolis for all of you out there. Give yourself or that special someone a a full month of celebration for Valentines Day this year. The Ballet Theatre of Maryland presents an evening of one act ballets’ featuring Hawthorne’s famous novel set in Puritan New England and Stravinsky’s famous score to the Russian fairy tale. 

Watch perfect execution and poise as ballet performers float across stage on February 26th in “The Scarlet Letter” and “The Firebird“. Two earlier performances with be given that Friday and Saturday, but Sunday is a special offering of the “WildFire” package. This includes brunch at The Wild Orchard at 11 a.m. and then the two featured encore presentations beginning at 2 p.m. You do not have to purchase tickets to the brunch to attend Sunday’s performance that afternoon but your choice of entree, Smith Island cake as well a a complimentary Mimosa to be offered at the brunch may just change your mind.

The ballet theatre returning dancer Kathryn Carison takes the stage as the heroine “Hester Prynne” along side Brian Walker and Nicole Seitz playing the roles of “Dimmesdale” and “Pearl”.

The Firebird, set to the famous music of Stravinsky, brings the russian folktale to life.  Ericka Wong plays the role of “The Firebird”. Watch the historic battle between good and evil as the prince in this story fights off the wicked Kashchel. These stories are too good not to see up close and personal. Pick up your tickets today and be transformed through the world of literature and dance.

WildFire Package on February 26th. The Wildfire brunch begins at 11 a.m. Performance begins at 2 p.m.
