Articulture: Creating Unique Sustainable Designs For Austin Homes

Articulture. The name itself is a summation of the company. It’s art, horticulture and architecture all combined. Monique Capanelli, the owner and designer of Articulture Designs, brings her artistic side to every piece she makes. These works of art mix creativity with horticulture to make a sustainable and beautiful decoration. They specialize in Landscaping, Weddings and Special Events, and Interior Botanical Design. Her process is much like any other interior designer: she begins with a consultation and creates drawings of what she imagines. Of course, she always strives to find exactly what the client wants because she recognizes how close people feel to their homes. “Inside of a home is a lot more personal than the outside can be,” Monique explained. While she is often contacted to work on a project alone, Monique loves to collaborate with other interior designers and architects in the Austin area. Specifically, she does a lot of work with Mark Cravotta of Cravotta Studios. “Collaboration is always exciting and fun,” Monique told me.

But art is not the only component involved in these extremely specialized design projects. Monique brings her experience in permaculture and landscaping to each piece she creates. While not the only one to make Living Wall Art, her designs and work are extremely unique in the interior world. Using specially selected plants, she brings the outdoors into the home or office where her creations grace the walls or ornament the furniture. Surprisingly, a number of plants thrive in Austin homes. In both indoor and outdoor, the arrangements are made with sustainability in mind and work to create a symbiotic environment. Since the business was founded, Monique has had the privilege of watching it grow. She strives to stay ahead of the game in growth trends and design ideas. The business is constantly evolving and may one day branch into having a showroom to display her work. Whether you are looking for some green to spice up the Winter grey or already thinking ahead to Spring, bring your home back to its roots by adding a little Articulture.
