Review Of Baking With Julia By Dorrie Greenspan

Nothing beats the lovely smell of baking during the holidays, the hint of cinnamon or the heady smell of yeast. If you have a baker on your holiday shopping list, I highly recommend the ultimate baking bible—Baking with Julia which is based on the PBS series hosted by none other than Julia Child. This cookbook has won the James Beard Award and the Julia Child Cook Book Award.

This cookbook will appeal to the novice as well as experienced baker. Recipes range from the Best-Ever Brownies to a Glorious Wedding Cake. I have personally tested several of the recipes and everything I have tried has been stellar.

The Danish Braid filled with fresh raspberry jam has become our Christmas morning tradition. The first time I made it, my husband exclaimed that it was the best pastry he had every tasted. This is high praise considering that we have sampled pastries throughout Europe. I would also recommend trying the recipe for pecan sticky rolls made from a Brioche dough. They have enough butter to ensure a melt in your mouth richness.

Bon appetite!
