Anyone who’s ever been to an auction knows that they can be a lengthy affair, especially so if the item you have your eye on gets auctioned at the end of the proceedings (and isn’t that always the case?) Not so in Open Arms’ Short and Sweet Auction that maxes out at two hours. Plus all the proceeds from the expedited event go to Open Arms Perinatal Services, a local non profit that operates from the perspective that when we know better, we do better.

This fantastic organization supports pregnant low income women by providing them with prenatal and post partum support; birthing doulas; parental support; education through two years of the baby’s life; parenting classes; and breast feeding programs, including peer breast feeding counseling. The outcomes from this invaluable program include improved overall health for baby and mother (doulas even go grocery shopping with mother’s to help them make healthy choices), increased early learning, and increased language development to name a few.
The Short and Sweet Auction will be held at the School for Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA)–a local non profit dedicated to improving the physical and mental health of children through acrobatics and circus arts– and will provide lively entertainment from children and young adults showing off their spectacular acrobatic moves with an aerial silk performance. Watch in awe, but keep your eye on the prize because there are some fantastic goods and package deals being auctioned off, and just in time for the holiday season. No matter what your budget, there’s something to bid on: learn to make delectable pies by bidding on a local pie-making class or let the pro’s do it by bidding on a one week getaway to Paris.
