Miss A Columnist

Amanda Ivarra is a graduate of Texas A&M University. After graduating with a degree in Health, she moved to Austin and started working for a national non-profit organization. She spent 5 years coordinating community events and programs. After leaving the organization, she started to focus on her creative pursuits. Currently, she is working on developing her own jewelry line. Writing has always been a hobby for Amanda. For most of her life, she’s kept journals. It wasn’t until recently that she decided to take her writing public and began blogging and guest blogging. The one thing this girl can’t live without is music. Not really one to sing or play an instrument, she just loves music. Perhaps, it’s the songwriting that she admires so much or a good beat that she can dance to. Whether she’s attending a concert with friends, hanging out with the guys watching sports, volunteering in the community, hiking or visiting the newest places in town, Amanda lives to enjoy life. But, nothing brings more joy to her than being able to make someone smile or laugh!

If you can’t grow one, make one!  The WonderCraft will host Mustache Mania v2.0 on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at their brick-and-mortar location in East Austin. This make-and-take event will include bottle mustaches and mustache glass etchings to accompany the variety of Rollarfeet sodas offered at The Wondercraft.  Entry is free, and 50 percent of the make-and-take proceeds will benefit Livestrong.

After participants complete this DIY project, they can jump in the photo booth and get a picture with their new beverage accessory. Participants can also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win some fabulous handmade items and other goodies from local businesses. Proceeds from the raffle will also benefit Livestrong.

The WonderCraft is a place to make things, meet people and buy things. It’s a craft bar and a handmade shop. A place for DIYers to come and create things, and a place for non-DIYers to come and purchase those items they wish they could make.

For the second year in a row, the ladies at The Wondercraft are hosting their official Movember event to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. And, this year, Movember and Livestrong have partnered up to offer free, confidential navigation resources to men affected with cancer, resources like financial assistance, fertility preservation options, treatment decision support and clinical trial matching and other practical navigational tools to assist men dealing with the cancer experience.

Join The WonderCraft in supporting Movember and celebrate the mustache. To get you in the festive mood, take a look at their Pinterest board. Repin, like or comment on your favor ‘stache.
