There are many children in our area that are on extended hospital stays. These little ones often need the extra support from friends, family, and volunteers, to get through each day.
During the month of November, join the staff at Greater South River Animal Hospital in Edgewater to donate children’s pajamas in support of the Casey Cares Foundation.
The Casey Cares Foundation was founded in 2000 by Casey Baynes to fill a void in services for critically ill children. Casey herself overcame many personal and business obstacles in her life, including dyslexia. Even though learning was an intense challenge for her, she graduated from Towson University with a Master’s Degree at the age of 20, and became the university’s youngest Master’s Degree recipient.
The Foundation, through the Kami’s Jammies Program, provides new sleepwear and themed pajama parties to pediatric patients at Maryland-area hospitals such as: Children’s Hospital at University of Maryland, Children’s Hospital at Sinai, Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Howard County General, Carroll County General, Baltimore/Washington Medical Center, Holy Cross, Kennedy Krieger, NIH, Franklin Square, and GBMC.
Kami’s Jammies was inspired through a Casey Cares Foundation child to help make children feel more at home in an environment that is known for being stark and sterile. Kamryn, the inspiration for the pajamas, bravely battled leukemia and always felt special when she was able to wear a new pair of pajamas instead of a hospital gown.
The Greater South River Animal Hospital is in need of pajamas for the following sizes:
