Clementine Offers International & Organic Dishes In Lauraville

Clementine brought back memories of my childhood, when my family used to come together for dinner around the dining table over fresh homemade food cooked with fresh ingredients. Therefore, it was natural for me to feel at home when I walked into the restaurant, comforted first by the rustic décor, then being sat at a spacious and thick wood table, and lastly by knowing that everything on the menu was fresh and organic.

Clementine is a restaurant, caterer and charcuterie located on 5402 Harford Road. Locating the restaurant and finding parking on the road on a weekend was an easy task. The menu was clear and legible, but the uniqueness and unfamiliarity of some ingredients such as the Channa Masala and Tamarin Chutney in the Indian Scramble, or the Hoisin and Korean Hot Barbecut Sauce in the Korean Hot Pot, made me and my friend take a little bit longer to decide on brunch. The menu was a mix of French, Indian, Asian and American cuisine. My friend finally settled on the Seared Duck Beef Hash while I settled on the Egg Asparagus Casserole with a side of bacon.

My dish was delicious! I could taste the freshness of the ingredients and the different flavors present in the dish was enjoyable. The bacon was especially exceptional! I would go as far to say that it was the best bacon I have ever tasted. It was not the thin, meatless and excessively greasy bacon available in most places. This one was thick and not with fat; it was meat! It was succulent and fresh. I had a taste of my friend’s dish and it was as delicious as mine was.

Clementine makes their own comestibles, which they describe on their website as delicious treats such as dressings, sauces, pickled vegetables & salads, compotes, jams & syrups.  They do not bottle for sale yet but that is a work in progress, and they are slated to open a grocery store next door by the end of the year. Moreover, to top it all off their ingredients are organic and come from local farmers. On their website under the restaurant section, you have access to find out which Maryland farm their products come from.

The description of the menu sounds great. I especially like the fact that the restaurant offers a mixture of international cuisine. I might try a sample if I go to Baltimore.

    Thanks Paula for the tip!
