ABOUT KIDS OF KILIMANJARO
Kids of Kilimanjaro™ is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit school lunch program serving 15,000 students at 48 schools in the Monduli and Moshi Districts of Tanzania, where Mt. Kilimanjaro is located.  Since its founding in 2005, Kids of Kilimanjaro has raised more than $1 million for the school lunch program.

Founder and Huffington Post Greatest Person of the Day George Namkung started the non-profit following his return from a tour in Tanzania where he successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and later discovered that children in the region went throughout their school day without a meal.  Since providing lunch, attendance in the schools is now at 100% with a waiting list, the drop out rate is a non-existent and classroom performance and graduation rates have increased dramatically.  Pre-schools have expanded their day by one extra period at the students’ request. Lunch is also improving the children’s immune system in fighting off malaria and malnutrition.
It costs only $22 to feed one child for an entire school year.
