It’s the middle of fashion’s best season, the holidays are fast approaching, and we’re loving the idea of something made special, just for us. Local jewelry designer Ada Rosman’s specialty is just that: The metalsmith pulls from her own travel experiences and her customer’s stories to create memorable, one-of-a-kind pieces that last a lifetime. We can’t think of anything better.
We chatted with Rosman about this season’s best jewelry trends, her favorite pieces and the classics that just keep coming back. Here’s her take on accessory must-buys for fall.
MA: What are some of your favorite looks for fall, and from where do you draw your inspiration?

AR: This season, my pieces are an eclectic collection of natural elements like wood, bones and textiles mixed with gemstones, pearls and found objects. The result makes for an organic, layered look. I’ll also be incorporating more classic, traditional designs from various cultures, inspired by architecture for a modern twist.
If you could name one reoccurring jewelry trend, what would it be?
People love the ability to personalize a piece of jewelry, and I love being able to make pieces of jewelry that tell their own stories. The experience never gets old.
We’re on the lookout for fall’s best adornments. If you could recommend three key pieces for the season, what would they be?
Without a doubt, my scarflaces (scarf-necklaces), Baltic amber rings and Espana No. 1 earrings are all go-tos this fall and winter. All inspired by organic elements, they’re versatile as ever.
With so many fabulous, one-of-a-kind pieces, we’re having a hard time choosing just one favorite. What’s your best-selling item, and why is it such a timeless option?
My customizable leather bracelet is a recent addition to my jewelry line, and it has definitely been one of my most popular pieces. I love making this piece because even though it’s the same basic shape every time, no two pieces are alike. While customizing, I get to learn more about the person that will be wearing it, giving me the chance to create a special piece of wearable art that carries the wearer’s own personal story. I think it is is such a timeless piece because of its simplicity: The band is made from re-purposed leather with a sterling silver tag that’s customized with a symbol or design on the front. The back of the bracelet is a secret little space where gift-givers or wearers can share a few words, a favorite quote or well-loved song lyrics.
