Nuit de la Mode was an evening of fashion, culture and art at the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens by the Alliance Française de Washington and Art Soirée . The sold out event on Saturday, September 24 started with an outdoor fashion show with the cobblestone path behind the mansion as the runway, and the vast grounds of the estate as the backdrop. Ready-to-wear and bridal fashion from international designers Elizabeth St. John (United States), Camille Pascal (France) and Marina Asta (Russia) accomplished that delicate balance between high-fashion and wear-ability.
The Franco-Russian-American soirée also included an outdoor DJ, light bites (French and Russian fare), and tours of the vast collection of French and Russian art. A documentary about Yves-Saint Laurent was also shown in the visitor center. Guests were also able to visit the exhibition Wedding Belles: Bridal Fashions from the Marjorie Merriweather Post Family, 1874-1958 (highly recommended!). The intimate gathering of guests partied well into the night.
