Vidal Sassoon In Tyson’s Galleria: A Luxurious Experience

A trip to Vidal Sassoon in Tysons Galleria feels and looks like you are stepping into a salon in the heart of New York City.

Glass walls line the stylists’ area providing a window onto the mall’s busy street scene.  Inside, cocooned away from these fishbowl walls and the shopping activity, one enters the shampoo and chemical services areas where you are treated to a cappuccino or other refreshment while discussing the best options for your new look. Anything you desire is possible, whether it be overall color or some well-placed highlights.

Checking in for my appointment in this elegant atmosphere, I was introduced to my team: Assistant Salon Director/Color Director Jade Delproposto and Assistant Creative Director Dusan.

First, Jade described her thoughts on my color. She decided to enliven my hair with highlights, lowlights and medium tones to give my color depth and glow. She applied the three different mixtures in alternate rows and monitored my color development by setting three different times for each of the shades.

While she worked, she described amethyst and warm garnet jewel tones as some of hot new hair highlight colors for fall and winter.  After my colors developed, she applied Vidal Sassoon’s Seal product to lock in color pigments and hydrate and moisturize my hair after the color process.

Now, I moved to the stylist portion of my experience with Dusan.  He explained how all professionals at Vidal Sassoon start at the same level, regardless of their past experience and training. Everyone receives extensive instruction and hands on experience in the Vidal Sassoon methods of coloring and styling hair. Each professional is encouraged to discover his or her specific professional preferences and skills. He describes himself as a sculptor, rather than a painter, in his temperament and therefore he prefers to cut and style hair.

Together, Dusan and I decide to add layers to my chin length hair starting from a middle part to give me options to part my hair in ways. The back layers are cut to provide contrast for the highlighted and lowlighted sections of my hair.

I leave the salon feeling indulged and new. Enjoying my shiny new color in the windows of the nearby stores, I swing my hair from side to side feeling the soft silkiness that the pampering has imparted to my tresses and to my mood. Let the weekend begin!
