This Wednesday, September 21, join Angie Goff of NBC Washington, Mary Amons of the “Real Housewives of DC,” Tommy McFLY of FRESH FM, and other well-known DC personalities at Union Station to raise funds for childhood cancer research and cheer on 46 mommas who will shave their heads in solidarity with their children diagnosed living with cancer.

Each weekday, 46 mothers are told that their child has cancer. To combat the disease and raise funds for research, 46 Mommas was created to represent all mothers who make the cancer journey with their child. In 2010, 46 Mommas: Shave for the Brave team established a $1 million fundraising goal and you can help them achieve their goal by cheering on the 46 moms who will go bald tomorrow night.

The 46 Mommas is a group of 46 women from around the country who have all been touched by childhood cancer, that have joined together to raise awareness and funds for life-saving childhood cancer research.

46 Mommas: Shave for the Brave is an initiative created by The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation raises funds for childhood cancer research by hosting signature worldwide head-shaving events where volunteers shave their heads to stand in solidarity with kids with cancer. The Foundation currently funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Later in the week, the Mommas are planning to go to Capital Hill to meet members of Congress to discuss childhood cancer issues as well as attend the Second Annual Childhood Cancer Summit, sponsored by the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Head-shavings are scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
