Fall 2011 Nail Polish Trends

It’s the fall again, which means it’s time to switch over from neon shades of polish to colors on the darker end of the spectrum. I find darker nail polish colors to be especially flattering on short nails, which is something I’ve seen a lot on the runways lately, as well. I particularly liked the nails done by Deborah Lippman in the Badgley Mischka New York Fashion Week runway show this month. Fabulous!

Essie’s new fall collection features colors ranging from dark purples, to nudes, to pinks, which is reminiscent of Sephora by OPI’s fairly recent Urban Ballerina collection. I particularly like the shades Carry On (pictured on the left) and Power Clutch, a smoked-out, medium-gray. I find the formulas of the latest Essie collection to be a bit thicker than their lighter counterparts (Fiji, for example, is a very thin formula according to many), which makes application much easier.

If you’re looking for classic colors for the fall, I suggest OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques, Sephora by OPI’s Leotard Optional, Essie’s Downtown Brown, OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, Chanel’s Black Pearl, and the color I’m super excited to rock this fall, Butter London’s No More Waity, Katie.
