The Commonwealth Cup At Great Meadow Polo Club Presented By Nespresso

The 25th Annual Commonwealth Polo Cup presented by Nespresso will be held at Great Meadow Polo Club in The Plains, VA, on Saturday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m.  The Commonwealth Polo Cup is a polo match that has featured international polo teams from England, Scotland, Argentina and Chile competing against a Virginia Commonwealth team.  This year’s Commonwealth Polo Cup will be represented by a Commonwealth/USO team presented by Nespresso USA playing against a UK/British Forces Foundation (BFF) team presented by Nespresso UK.  The 2011 match will be raising funds and awareness for the USO, the BFF and the Wounded Warriors Family Support charitable organizations.

British Forces Foundation patron, HRH, The Prince of Wales, hosted a reception at the British Embassy residence of Ambassador & Mrs. Nigel Sheinwald on May 3, 2011.  Prince Charles paid tribute to wounded British and American soldiers in an event co-sponsored by the BFF and USO.  During a brief speech, Prince Charles expressed his whole-hearted support of the BFF and activities and organizations they support that raise funding to provide entertainment to the troops.  With ever-increasing commitments, service members can expect to spend even longer periods away from their homes and families – and thus maintaining their morale becomes all the more important.

Please join us for an exciting afternoon of polo in the VIP Hospitality Tent and Nespresso Cafe.  Guests will enjoy a field-side luncheon catered by Outback Steakhouse, hot and cold Nespresso beverages, traditional half-time divot stomp and prize ceremony.  Nespresso will be rewarding the winning team with Nespresso machines and gift packages.  Immediately following the match, guests will enjoy a private reception where they can mingle with the polo players and partake in the concurrent Wine Festival at The Plains.

This match will be held to raise funds and awareness for the USO, the BFF and the Wounded Warriors Family Support charitable organizations.  The organizers have invited several wounded veterans from the Fredericksburg area to be our guests for the afternoon.
