Miss A Columnist

Lesley Haenny is the Seattle Editor for Miss A. She is an Air Force wife now living in the Seattle area. Prior to living in Seattle, Lesley spent 7 years in Washington, DC, working as a Congressional liaison. She grew up in a small, mountain town in Southern California, sandwiched between an older sister and a younger brother. Her two hard working parents taught her to always go for the clearance rack, bring your lunch everyday, work hard for what you have, and always take the opportunity to travel and play outside. Lesley has been actively involved in various charities such as the Animal Resource Foundation, Komen For the Cure, Prevent Cancer Foundation, American Diabetes Association and the Race for Hope (benefitting the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure). If you have a Seattle charity or cultural event, restaurant, boutique, spa, or salon you would like covered on Miss A, please contact Lesley at lesley.haenny@askmissa.com.

Do you love animals? Do you love to eat delicious Maryland crabs? Then put your two loves together and come out to the Kent Island Yacht Club on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Sixth Annual Crab Feast to Benefit the Animals!

The Animal Resource Foundation (ARF) is a non-profit located on Kent Island in Chester, Maryland, dedicated to saving and improving the lives of our four legged friends throughout the Mid-Atlantic region by rescuing them from animal shelters. Their belief is that no animal deserves to be abandoned, neglected, abused or arbitrarily killed.

Through the creation of public awareness opportunities, outreach programs, providing a nurturing environment for rehabilitation and a spay/neuter program, ARF is able to make adoption the practical alternative.
