Chick Lit and Chocolates – even the name is appetizing. On Wednesday, July 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., women of all ages gathered in Georgetown for an evening of books, fashion, and great food sponsored by Glamazon Media and BCBG MaxAzria. The event took place at the BCBG boutique and featured book signings for authors Beth Harbison and Sarah Pekkanen as well as a sneak peek at BCBG’s stunning fall line. Did I mention there was free chocolate and champagne?

While a fashion store might seem like an odd location for a book signing, the nature of Harbison’s and Pekkanen’s writing makes for perfect chemistry. Their girly chick lit novels attract a similar audience to those who shop at BCBG. Harbison’s latest, Always Something There to Remind Me, is about a woman struggling to get over her first love. Harbison has also published several novels, including Thin Rich Pretty and Shoe Addicts Anonymous. Pekkanen’s Skipping a Beat is about a couple in D.C. trying to juggle their relationship and career demands. She has also published The Opposite of Me, a story about twin sisters. Skipping a Beat has been featured on O (Oprah’s magazine)’s “Pick it up Now” list.

The authors clearly fit in at the event and spent most of their time mingling and chatting with other guests. Women of all ages, all dressed to the nines, enjoyed meeting the authors, shopping, and sampling the snacks. Food included scrumptious key lime cupcakes, Godiva chocolates, cheese and crackers, and tasty wine and champagne.

As if it couldn’t get any better, BCBG revealed a stunning fall line. Black is back in style, as are maroon, gold and silver, if this line is any indication. In the shoe department, the line featured cute booties and strappy heels in metallics and other neutral tones. Loose-fitting dresses and full skirts also dominated the line, and belts are definitely still big. Sheer layers are also making appearances. As always, BCBG’s line is chic, trendy and classy.
